Welcome to UnderstandingSudan.org
Who are we?
UnderstandingSudan.org is being developed with funding from the
United
States Department of Education Title VI grant program.
The portal will be developed over three years (2005-2008), and
will portray the variety of Sudanese experiences, showcase not only
empirical facts of the country's history, political economy, ecology,
societies and cultures, but also its literatures in indigenous and
colonial languages, arts and music, and scholarly work.
The site developers are:
Michael Kevane
Associate Professor of Economics at the Leavey School of Business
Santa Clara University
Martha Saavedra
Associate Director of the Center for African Studies
University of California, Berkeley.
Mariane Ferme
Associate Professor of Anthropology
University of California, Berkeley
These three 'associates' have overall responsibility for the content
of the site. Modules and sections of the site will be created by
other academics and teachers with acknowledgments indicated where
appropriate.
